Karpontini Bros is the first marble quarrying and trading company founded by local proprietors in Naxos. As locals, they act not only as business people but as residents and living members of the local community.
For more than fifteen years the company has actively supported local cultural organizations, artists, exhibitions and festivals organized in Naxos — from impulse and support to the local community, long before corporate social responsibility became a marketing tool.

3rd Naxian Sculpture Symposium (2020)
For the third consecutive year, Cycladia with the artistic direction of sculptor Dimitris Varsos organises the 3rd Naxos Marble Sculpting Symposium, which took place in August and September of 2020. This symposium aspires to be a yearly event on Naxos, and the starting point of a series of events centred around Naxian marble and the sculpting thereof. The public space of the Symposium, the interactions with the community, and the site of the sculpture’s final placement weave a web of many stimuli. The guests have the ability to observe the artist’s process and come into immediate contact with the artists working with their craft. Guests may also talk to the artists directly. Lastly, it is a chance for children to come in contact with the magical world of art up close. 1st Naxian Sculpture Symposium (2018)
The 1st Sculpture Symposium on Naxian Marble took place at Eggares village in Naxos from the 20th to the 31st of August 2018. The Symposium was organized by the non-profit cultural organisation Cycladia by the artistic direction of the sculptοr Dimitris Versos (Wood Carving workshop Athens School of Fine Arts ( ASFA ) 2002 -2008). The symposium participated the artists: Versos Dimitris -Sculptor (ASFA) / Dritsonas Petros - Sculptor (ASFA) / Lazopoulou Christiana - Sculptor (ASFA) / Papageorgiou Christina - Sculptor , Architect (ASFA) Plastira Olga - Sculptor (Carrara Italy) / Riganas Christos - Sculptor (ASFA) guests artist: Necmi Aydin Sahtariadis All the sculptures will be permanently exhibited at Cycladia . Marble signs for the path from Kinidaros to Eggares (2016)
For the signs of the Route 11, path from Kinidaros to Eggares our company proposed to offer the marble in order to be signalized by marble signs instead of wooden. The proposal was accepted and with the cooperation of the South Aegean Administration and the Municipality of Naxos and the art of «Nikolas Verikokkos» the project was finished in May 2016.

The book "MARBLE SCULPTURE IN NAXOS - From the 15th century to nowadays" is published with the support of our company.
Alekos E. Florakis, Ph in Ethnology and Folklore studies, puts together in this book a long years investigation on the sculpture art in Naxos. With 200 pages of photographs the book is very interesting even for those who can't read Greek. We are proud to be supporters of this publishing which was missing from the Naxian bibliography. Dancing Days in Kinidaros Naxos (2011)
What makes Kinidaros village special, is the long tradition in dancing and singing. "Has violins that speak, lutes that talk and singers that make the birds remain silent". All the people who know Kinidaros identify it with dancing and singing. Tradition says that "the children of Kinidaros first learn to dance and then to walk".

To 2011 η εταιρεία μας σε συνεργασία με την ομάδα εθελοντών “Συν+Αξία” διοργάνωσε την Ευρωπαϊκή Γιορτή της Μουσικής στη Νάξο. Το νησί μας συμμετείχε για πρώτη φορά στο μεγαλύτερο μουσικό θεσμό της Ευρώπης που πραγματοποιείται ταυτόχρονα σε 22 χώρες. Οι εκδηλώσεις του δικτύου της Ευρωπαϊκής Γιορτής της Μουσικής αποσκοπούν στο να προσφέρουν στο κοινό την ευκαιρία να παρακολουθήσει δωρεάν συναυλίες από όλα τα είδη μουσικής και να ακουστούν με ίσες ευκαιρίες καταξιωμένοι επαγγελματίες και φιλόδοξοι ερασιτέχνες. Παρόλο που η Γιορτή διοργανώθηκε για πρώτη φορά στο νησί μας πετύχαμε να φιλοξενήσουμε σημαντικούς καλλιτέχνες, μπάντες από άλλες πόλεις, τοπικούς καλλιτέχνες και ανερχόμενους νέους μουσικούς, επαγγελματίες και ερασιτέχνες που αντιπροσωπεύουν ένα μεγάλο φάσμα της Μουσικής. Συγκεκριμένα πραγματοποιήθηκαν οι ακόλουθες συναυλίες:

Dancing Days in Kinidaros Naxos (2010)
Ο Κυνίδαρος της Νάξου είναι συνυφασμένος με τα μάρμαρα και την εξόρυξή τους, που αποτελεί τη βασική δραστηριότητα των κατοίκων του. Μια εξίσου σημαντική πτυχή της ζωής των Κυνιδαριωτών όμως είναι ο χορός και τη μουσική. «Τα παιδιά στον Κυνίδαρο πρώτα μαθαίνουν να χορεύουν και μετά να περπατούν», λέει η παράδοση. Μέσα στο πέρασμα του χρόνου ο Κυνίδαρος έχει συνδέσει το όνομά του με το γλέντι και το χορό. Το 2010 και μετά από πρόταση της εταιρείας μας προς τους πολιτιστικούς συλλόγους του χωριού “Άγιος Γεώργιος” και “Ο Απίκραντος” διοργανώθηκε το πολιτιστικό διήμερο με τίτλο “Ημέρες Χορού στον Κυνίδαρο Νάξου”. Η διοργάνωση περιλάμβανε δύο δράσεις: α) Τη Δευτέρα 02 Αυγούστου: Εργαστήρι Χορού και Ακροβατικών για μικρούς και μεγάλους και β) Την Τρίτη 03 Αυγούστου: Χοροθεατρική Παράσταση «Arriba» από την ομάδα «κι όμΩς κινείται» . Ο στόχος μας ήταν να δώσουμε το εναρκτήριο λάκτισμα, να βάλουμε το σπόρο για τη δημιουργία μιας δυναμικής που θα οδηγήσει στην διοργάνωση ενός ετήσιου θεσμού όπου θα παρουσιάζονται όχι μόνο παραδοσιακοί χοροί αλλά και σύγχρονες χορογραφίες και χοροί από άλλες χώρες. Επίσης στόχος μας είναι οι ομάδες και οι σύλλογοι που θα συμμετέχουν, όχι μόνο να παρουσιάζουν τους χορούς τους αλλά και να δίνουν δωρεάν μαθήματα- εργαστήρια χορού για παιδιά και μεγάλους. Μ’ αυτόν τον τρόπο οι επισκέπτες μας δε θα περιορίζονται μόνο στην παρακολούθηση των χορευτικών αλλά θα έρχονται σε άμεση επαφή με τους χορευτές και τους μουσικούς και θα μοιράζονται τη χαρά της συμμετοχής στο χορό μαζί τους. Πράγματι σε αυτό το διήμερο το κοινό που αγκάλιασε με ενθουσιασμό τη διοργάνωση απόλαυσε την ομάδα «κι όμΩς κινείται» επί σκηνής αλλά και χόρεψε μαζί της. Το ραντεβού ανανεώθηκε για το επόμενο καλοκαίρι με στόχο να γίνει τριήμερο χορευτικών εκδηλώσεων.

AXIA FESTIVAL (2010)
Since 2010 our company is a supporter of the AXIA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL. AXIA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL takes place every summer on the beautiful island of Naxos. The festival offers a series of high quality cultural events. A number of rising stars from the younger generation perform with well established artists for an audience searching for something new, imaginative and special. Axia Festival presents a mystical journey full of music, poetry and art. Axia Festival takes place from the 10th to the 19th of August and is organized in cooperation with the Gina Bachauer International Music Association, the Jeunesses Musicales Greece, the José Carreras Friends Association-Fight against leukemia and with the Municipality of Naxos. International musicologist-music critic Constantine P. Carambelas-Sgourdas is the founder and artistic director of the festival. Aphrodite of Naxos (2009)
In Greek mythology Aphrodite was the daughter of Zeus and Diome. Also, because the Greek word “aphros” means ‘foam’, the legend arose that Aphrodite was conceived in sea foam by the seed of Uranus. She was primarily worshipped as the goddess of sexual love, fertility and beauty. She was also widely worshipped as the goddess of the sea and seafarers.

In the context of our efforts to acquaint the inhabitants and the visitors of Naxos with the process of marble mining, we organised a photography project titled “Quarry: From the insides of Naxos to the light” , which resulted in a photography exhibition in the summer of 2009.

Since 2004, “KARPONTINI BROS – NAXIAN MARBLES UNLIMITED” has been cooperating with foreign Educational institutions and participating in the European Programme “Leonardo Da Vinci” . Until today, we have accepted two graduates from Spanish universities.

Ariadne on Naxos (2004)
In 2004 “KARPONTINI BROS - NAXIAN MARBLES UNL.” in cooperation with the German sculptor and professor Wolf Bröll and the “KONTOPIDIS & SONS UNL” marble factory propose to the municipality of Naxos to cooperate for the creation of a sculpture which will adorn Naxos’s harbor and specifically the road to Portara (Great Door).
